THIS WEEK’S BRIEF

The 45-second Phone Video That Kills Tire-Kickers

Here’s a familiar scenario:

You jump on a 30-minute discovery call. You’ve done your research. You’re ready to bring value.

Then the prospect dials in 3 minutes late, looking at their phone, and says:

"So... remind me what you guys do again?"

Just like that, you’ve lost control of the frame. You’re no longer a trusted advisor, you’re a vendor pitching for approval.

AI lead-gen tools will tell you to solve this with automated email sequences and calendar reminders. But an automated email doesn't build trust; it just clutters an inbox.

If you want prospects to show up focused, respectful of your authority, and ready to buy, you need to change how you handle the window between booking and meeting.

Here is the exact pre-meeting video strategy I use to filter out low-intent buyers and set up high-value deals.

But first…

Now back to the show.

The Rules: Grab Your Phone

I talk a lot about the power of high-quality, authority-building video. But for this specific strategy, high production is your enemy.

Imagine sending a prospect a gorgeous, three-camera, studio-lit production for a 45-second message. It looks staged, corporate, and worst of all - desperate.

For this to work, grab your phone. Shoot it vertically. Hold it in your hand.

Why? Because a raw, mobile video signals real-time authenticity. It says: "I’m a busy professional, I saw you booked, and I’m reaching out in the moment."

The Strategy: The "Pre-Meeting Frame Setter"

Within a few hours of a high-value prospect booking a call, pull out your phone and send them a 45-second vertical video.

Here is the 3-part framework to use:

1. The Personal Hook (0–10 seconds)

Prove you aren't sending a mass template. Call out one hyper-specific detail about their business.

"Hey [Name], saw you just booked for Thursday. I was taking a quick look at your team’s recent product launch on LinkedIn - congrats on that rollout."

2. The Frame Shift (10–30 seconds)

Shift the narrative from "a quick chat" to a strategic working session.

"I’m pulling together a few ideas specifically around how we can fix [specific pain point]. To make sure we don't waste a single minute of our 30 minutes together, I need you to think about one thing before we talk..."

3. The Assignment (30–45 seconds)

Give them a simple piece of homework. This is where you test their intent.

"...think about your biggest bottleneck with [X] over the last quarter. Bring that number to the call. See you Thursday."

Why This Works (And Why AI Can’t Replicate It)

  1. It eliminates the "Vendor Frame": By giving them a directive before the meeting, you subtly position yourself as the peer/expert, not a desperate salesperson waiting to pitch.

  2. The "In the Moment" Effect: A selfie-style video feels personal and human. It builds immediate rapport before Zoom even opens.

  3. It tests compliance: High-intent buyers respect clear processes and preparation. If someone replies complaining about the assignment, or ignores it completely, you already know they aren't a fit for high-ticket work.

Your Action Item for This Week

On the very next high-ticket meeting that hits your calendar, do not send a standard "Looking forward to speaking!" email.

Pull out your phone, shoot a quick 45-second vertical video using the framework above, and send it over.

Watch how fast the energy on that first sales call changes.

That’s a wrap for today, have a wonderful week!
